What does PV cost? Aren't PV systems expensive?

Cost is variable and will depend on the energy demand of the home or business as well as its location. There is an initial investment required for a solar electric system, unlike using utility power. Installation costs depend on your site-specific circumstances. There are many variables in calculating the proper size of a PV system so we recommend you contact Conergy for specific cost estimates and system sizing information.

What type of PV system will I need and how big should it be?

Conergy will design your solar power system exactly according to your needs.
These systems provide unattended, automatic operation and include the finest electrical and mechanical components of the various manufactures that provide the best value, most reliability and least future warranty and service concerns.
The systems are sized and priced for the individual's home or business application for current and future energy needs. The capacity of the PV system will depend on the energy efficiency of your home or business and your average electricity use throughout the year (your electric bills will show you how much you use, in kWh, per month).
Conergy offers a turnkey service that includes sizing the PV system that will be most effective, determining the best solar system components and providing guaranteed installation. Custom business applications solutions are also available. We try to make the process as simple and cost effective as possible. Contact us for our recommendations and options.

How will the solar panels be mounted?

Most solar panels are mounted on the roof using appropriate types of mounting racks in the most advantageous location and positioning to collect the sun. South facing solar panels are generally best but there are many other options on placement of solar panel on the structure that will get the job done.
The solar panels can also be placed on a poles with a device that allows the solar array to track the sun throughout the day. The trackers can increase power production of your solar array by up to 40% thus requiring less solar panels to power the PV system. In many areas and sites, trackers are a cost effective way to significantly increase the power production of a solar electric system. Trackers generally cannot be mounted on a residential roof and require open space near the home that is using the solar power. The trackers can in many instances be mounted on the roof or other places in commercial applications.
Regardless of which mounting option is being used, the panels should face to south and be tilted at an angle of approx. 35-40 degrees (Greece). Resolving these solar panel placement issues are part of a competent PV system installation solution by Conergy.

How long will PV last?

Our solar panels come with a 25 year factory warranty that guarantees the panels will be efficient (at least 80% of the nominal power output) for twenty-five years. The batteries we use with proper maintenance have a life of 6-15 years (depending the type and the use). The power electronics, such as inverters are expected to work efficiently for 10 years or more.

Where is PV used?

PV is used in space, in consumer products, in remote communications, in village power systems, in traffic signs and lights, in cathodic protection systems, in roadside emergency call boxes, in grid-connected systems (residential or grid support), in remote homes, and many other applications.
